My great and very talented friends have started a brand new company called 2freshthreads. I was lucky enough to take a few photographs of their upcoming line of baby gear. Their big debut is going to be held in Maine at the Yarmouth Clam Festival on July 17, 18, and 19th. On top of these adorable baby bibs, they will be selling screen printed onsies, reversible aprons, changing pads, and much much more. Here is a sneak peak along with a few outtakes of our photoshoot!!

Happy Mother's Day Story

I usually don’t post about personal stories, but it’s a good one!!

It’s my first mother’s day as a new mom and I couldn’t be more excited, overtired, fascinated, and just plain giddy. I thought that it would be a perfect day to share a wonderful story from this past week.

So as most of you know I’m a children’s photographer and have had some great sessions in the last few weeks. One of my clients ordered prints from me in hopes to receive them before Mom’s day. We rushed the order a bit (I always like to leave room for reprints) and took a risk that they would come from the printer perfectly. I received them last Monday and packed them up to send with plenty of time for the client to frame and wrap her prints for her mom.

As it turns out on Tuesday before running to the post office I went into labor 11 days early…surprise!! The delivery was fast, painful (haven’t forgotten about that part yet…haha) and the most amazing experience of my life. Ok, so here comes Wednesday and I have this nagging feeling that my wonderful client is not going to get her prints in time for Mothers day.
Because it would be an easy ship, I asked a friend to grab it along with a zillion other things that we needed for the hospital.

When my friend arrived she told me that she, “might have” put the package on top of her car and drove away…oops. Not to worry, I’m sure my client will understand – and I would just have to get reprints. I was bummed that her mom wouldn’t have a gift for mother’s day, but under the circumstances it was not a big deal.

Yes, the story goes on….

On Friday T.. baby and I arrive home giddy to find that somebody had found my clients package (it looked rained on, and very dirty…haha) opened it (it hadn’t been addressed yet) and slipped into our mailbox. I couldn’t believe that somebody found it, must have looked up my businesses card and returned it to our mailbox. I have no idea who this person was, but thank you kind person!! I was able to call my client and T… dropped the images off to her mom’s house just in time for Mom’s day.

So I just wanted to say thank you to that person who took the time to return some images to somebody that he/she probably didn’t know!! Great things are out there – happy mothers day to everybody…

fyi - this picture was taken by my Dear Husband with my camera set on manual. The settings where iso = 400 ss = 1/200 f = 3.5 in a very dim lit room - haha.... Got to love him! Yes, it's all we have and needed a tad bit of curves even to see what was in it!! Got to also love camera raw!

Magnolia Critters

Ever since a friend brought me some magnolia blossoms, I have been obsessed. These beautiful blooms are delicate, fuzzy, and great to inspect with a magnifying glass...haha. AND the buds are just as beautiful and interesting to peel apart.

A little history - My dad was a 7th grade biology teacher at a local school. He was never at a loss for things to inspect, critters to capture, and animals to mount. Let's just say that my sister and I were very familiar to bug boxes - live and pinned up!! The last time I went to visit in AZ he had a scorpion mounted that he found in his garage...yikes!!

After closer inspection of the "magnolia wonder blooms" it just made sense to combine them with old illustrations of flowers and bugs!!

Maybe it's because I have lived in cold climates all my life, but there is something so special about spring coming alive.....

For earth day this year kona and I took a walk behind our house for a little garbage pick up. We didn't see much garbage but we did discover some other fun finds.

Baby Shower

My super cute sister threw me a super cute baby shower and I had to post a few of the pics that I took of all the coordinating elements. She even took some of the flower stationery to the patisserie so that the cupcakes would match..... (I had three...lol).

On another note - I'm writing this on the bus from Boston, I still can't get over how awesome it is that the bus has wireless. Ahhhhh technology!

With the help of some fellow Etsy crafters on the Maine Team, I was able to get involved with the Ronald MacDonald house here in Portland Maine. They were looking for donations for an upcoming event called purses for a purpose.

I don't make purses, (and it's better that I don't...lol) so I thought I would take pictures of a purse! While I was at it, I had some of my Oma's (grandmothers) very old VERY stylish shoes that were screaming to be photographed with carnations as well.

I'm now selling these images on Etsy and going to donate 20% of my sales to Purses for a Purpose. You will also be able to bid on the four 8 x 8 purse prints at the event in June as well as a portrait session by - you guessed it - me! See you there!!

Anemones

I am in love with Anemones (Genus Anemone, family Ranunculaceae.) especially the white and red variety. They belong to the buttercup family and are found in woodlands in the spring.....oh spring. I'm getting a bit stir crazy in Maine right now and could use some sunshine and dry ground. Don't get me wrong - I love the snow and what winter has to offer, but we have a long way to go before anything green starts to sprout.....

T.. and I visited some Friends last weekend and spent Sunday morning at an apple orchard in Auburn Maine. Aren't these guys the cutest!! Wednesday I had some time to enjoy a wonderful lunch with my dear friend and do some light shopping in and around Portland, ME. I feel so fortunate to live in such a wonderful area! Vinalhaven Maine

Whoa - i'm still rocking a bit from the ferry...haha. Today we took an hour and 1/2 ride over to the island of Vinalhaven. Obviously you couldn't see much through the fog, but in the afternoon it cleared to reveal a majestic island filled with the sweetest people (and a very hard working island culture). I had the opportunity to photograph a beautiful farm in CT. this last week. The strawberries where ripe, bees were buzzing, and sun was shining. It's amazing how different freshly picked organic strawberries taste compared to the foamy ones at the grocery store. Thanks Bees!

Among many flowers of spring, the Peony is one of my favorites. We only have two bushes outside, but I have managed to spray them into every room of our house. Some would say it's overload (whose name starts with T...haha) but I completely disagree. The bottles that I bought for my wedding have complemented them perfectly. I just can't resist.....yummy.

Wow, what a fabulous lunch date! MM, her kids and I had a wonderful lunch at one of the most beautiful parks in Maine.

Ohmygosh, these are amazing animals. I was able to catch a few photos while visiting some dear friends in CT. I have to say that I was a wee bit intimidated by how powerful and tall they stand.

Girl Friends Rock

Have you ever met somebody and just knew right away that you clicked? You sat down with them and couldn't stop talking? Hours can slip by with just a phone conversation - girl friends rock! This is what happened to Kona and Maggie, they sniffed butts and became best friends forever. These two couldn't stop flashing those goofy golden smiles. Oh, it melts my heart....thanks Maggie for coming over for a play date.

It makes me step back and think about all my great girl friends...what would I do without you!!

Business Card

I just received my business cards from the printer and LOVE them!! Thank you so much R... for the camera artwork. My logo is more fabulous then I could have ever imagined. Also, thank you William Arthur for printing my cards. The letterpress is simply beautiful.

I received my new cards just in time to show them off at the Audrey Woulard workshop in Chicago this weekend! Only three more days and I will officially be shooting with the pros. Look out Audrey, I have a boat load of questions for you....

I had such a good weekend spending time with Bettis and his parents. He was so full of energy and spunk. Like we expected Kona missed him, but fell fast asleep when you left. A beautiful day in the neighborhood

Today was amazing. Kona and I discoved the woods behind our house. I had never walked back into it before because of some big brush piles, but today I put my big boots on and walked right into a beautiful forest that seemed to go on forever. We found a small river, a pond, some toadstools and of course a TON of sticks. Sometimes you don't even realize what is right outside your back door. She was so so sleepy when we got home....snooooze.

Holy Cow! I can't believe it's the first of the year. I had such a wonderful vacation spending time with family/friends and am SO sad that it is over. Sniff Sniff.

However, I am looking forward to this year and what it will bring (Hopefully not more snow - or at least until we can dig out) ha ha. WA Photoshoot

This weekend I had a chance to photograph families, kids, and friends for a complimentary photoshoot. It was soooo much fun meeting everybody and working with such grateful people. The kids were amazing, but it seemed like everyone made me smile! Thank you so much C.. and C.. for all the help. Without you guys this weekend wouldn't have happened. Here are a few cutie pies in the studio (of course I wish we could have had natural lighting...maybe next time).

Good morning! (and a cold one at that). This is going to be a short post, but I wanted to share a recent picture of my pup Kona. Thanks again Kona for being so cooperative!
I am really looking forward to this weekend - I am photographing a ton of families for a Corporate event. It's a very broad group from babies to fury friends...like I said, I am SUPER excited and can't wait to see what kind of photos come out of it.
